Happy Birthday!
Dax had his first Birthday yesterday! We celebrated twice so that Grandpa Bowen, who was going out of town, could be there.
He got so many neat presents! A fire truck to ride and push, pull back and go cars, clothes, blocks on wires toy(2 actually, one from us and one from Ama and Papa... oops, I guess we were both at IKEA!), Broncos sippy cups, and books! His cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents came to have cupcakes and ice cream, YUM!! It was quite messy. Dax did a lot of playing with and smearing more than actually eating. Earlier in the day he got a sucker and I think we found his favorite treat, but he still shared! (back and forth, back and forth)

Don't drink the water!
We took Dax to Cottonwood Heights to go swimming on Monday. It was great fun! Dax couldn't possibly splash any more. Most of the time it's a very serious project as well. (serious face, splashing like crazy, watching the water very intently.) Well, I was talking to a client the next day and she was telling me that Cottonwood Heights had some parasite and people were getting really sick. Then I saw a blerp from the news talking about local pools and this parasite. None of us were sick so I thought we must have escaped the parasite..... until Thursday. Before dropping Dax off at Grandma Bowens for the day he already had 2 full, yucky diapers. Then when I picked him up at the end of the day, I learned that he had gone 6 more times! That wasn't even the end of it. Within 24 hours he had 14 messy, smelly diapers! GROSS! I called the doctor and after hearing that he had been swimming, they wanted to see him that day. So we went to the doctor and it was pretty much a waist of time. He never stopped pooping but he was acting just fine. So they didn't want to test or treat it unless it was severe. (I guess meaning not just non-stop poop, but that you would be feeling really sick as well.) So, for any of you that are thinking about taking your kids swimming or if they're sick already and want to take them to the doctor, hopefully this will help you. The parasite is Cryptosporidium, if you want to Google it. I guess the symptoms can last 6 days to 2 weeks. Dax drank the water and that's why he got sick and we didn't. Hopefully we can soon get away from all this poop!
