what color is taupe?

So, we wanted to paint our bedroom and bathroom a nice light taupe. Well we got the paint and started on it. We thought it seemed a little orangey but we thought if we got it all done it would work. Wrong! Nice peach walls. So, I went to Home Depot and picked out another nice taupe color that didn't have too much orange in it. Then we painted again. I was excited at first thinking that it looked perfect. Once it was done I started getting a sick feeling in my stomach because it just wouldn't work. This color had a green cast to it that just does not work with rust colored tiles. Brandon was saying that it was just fine, but I think he didn't want to have to move the toilet and repaint yet again. So, we left it for a couple of weeks, but I still would feel ill every time I went in there. So, being a hair colorist I thought if we mixed them together we should end up with that perfect shade of taupe that I was going for. I mixed a couple of spoonfuls and painted a sample board. I was right, it was perfect! So we mixed what we had and with the help of my awesome dad (Thanks again!), painted our bedroom and bathroom. When it came time to buy more, we weren't able to match anything close, we again had to buy 2 more gallons of the same ugly colors to make our perfect light taupe. Our bedroom and bathroom look great! Now I just need to get going on Dax's room, and the master bathroom, followed by remodeling our basement, getting a new fence, new floors, new doors, etc....

battle wounds

Now that Dax is moving around so much, we just can't seem to keep him from bonking his cute little head! I think in one day he bonked it a good 4 or 5 times. It's so sad, but I guess anyone who has been around a little one when they're learning to crawl, climb, and walk knows that there's not a lot to do about it. Unless we could put them in a big bubble padded helmet all the time... Hey, there's my million dollar idea!
